Surpassing its $12 million high estimate, this piece brought in $13.3 million at the Magnificent Jewels sale at <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christie\u2019s, New York.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The <\/b><b>Memory of Autumn Leaves &amp; <\/b><b>The <\/b><b>Dream of Autumn Leaves<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Price: $57.4 <\/b><b>million<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Auction House: Sotheby\u2019s, Geneva (<\/b><b>May 2017<\/b><b>)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In May 2017, Sotheby\u2019s presented the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exquisite in coloured diamonds: Apollo and Artemis, since renamed to The Memory of Autumn Leaves and The Dream of Autumn Leaves, comprised of a blue diamond weighing 14.54 carats, internally flawless, type IIb, and a pink diamond weighing 16.00 carats, VVS2 clarity, type IIa. The stones were mounted as a spectacular pair of earrings, offered separately, on account of their extreme rarity, power and presence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Blue Moon Diamond<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Price: $48.4 million<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Auction House: Sotheby\u2019s, Geneva <\/b><b>(November 2015)<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Carat: 12.03<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This exceptional <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">collectable <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reconciles beauty with rarity. Classified as a fancy vivid <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blue\u2013the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">highest grading for blue diamonds, it is the largest cushion-cut blue stone classified as \u201cfancy vivid\u201d ever to appear<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at an auction.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The head of Sotheby\u2019s international jewellery division stated this <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the highest-ever price per carat (over \u00a34 million per carat). This makes it the most expensive jewel sold at auction per carat and the world\u2019s most expensive diamond, regardless of colour. Fun fact: Hong Kong billionaire (and fugitive with felony convictions) Joseph Lau Luen-hung bought the diamond and named it after his <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">daughter, Josephine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Princie Diamond<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Price: $39.3 million<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Auction House: Christie\u2019s, New York<\/b><b> (16th April, 2013)<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Carat: 34.65<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flickering with a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fantastical, intense <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pink hue, this diamond\u2019s noble lineage dates to the Nizams of Hyderabad. However, of late, it\u2019s been the subject of an unpleasant family feud. It belonged to Italian politician and businessman Renato Angiolillo. After his death, his children fought over his estate and claimed that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">his <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stepsiblings stole the stone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Pink Legacy<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Price: $50.7 million<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Auction House: Christie\u2019s, Geneva (2018)<br \/>\n<\/b><b>Carat: 18.96<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purchased by Harry <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winston, this<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emblematic pink diamond <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exudes <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a stunning pink hue and embodies incredible clarity. Pink Legacy was mined in South Africa (c. 1918) and was once owned by the Oppenheimer <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">family, famous<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for their historical connection to diamonds as runners of De Beers. In the world of high jewellery, this is the highest compliment of ruby colouring (though unappealing in sound).
