Chief Secretary highlights Bhilwara\u2019s growth and policy-led textile push.<\/em><\/p>\n

V Srinivas, Chief Secretary, Rajasthan, has highlighted the growing role of textile research in the state and proposed organising a global conference of industry experts in Bhilwara, indicating the government\u2019s push to strengthen Rajasthan\u2019s position as a major textile hub.<\/p>\n

Srinivas made the remarks during a visit to the Bhilwara Circuit House, where he was welcomed by district officials. As part of the visit, he also launched the district\u2019s first \u201cViksit Bharat Gram Abhiyan\u201d, aligning local development initiatives with national growth programmes.<\/p>\n

During his tour, the Chief Secretary reviewed operations at Nitin Spinners and held interactions with textile entrepreneurs as well as farmers. Speaking to the media, he noted that cotton cultivation in Bhilwara has expanded significantly in recent years, while yarn exports have recorded steady growth, reflecting the district\u2019s improving textile ecosystem.<\/p>\n

He further pointed to rapid industrial capacity expansion, stating that the number of spindles in the district has risen sharply from around 60,000 to nearly 1.5 million. Srinivas added that the state is now aiming to scale this capacity up to 5 million spindles as part of the long-term \u201cViksit Bharat\u201d and \u201cViksit Rajasthan\u201d vision for 2047.<\/p>\n

Srinivas also drew attention to the increasing cultivation of Kasturi cotton in the region, noting that it is expected to receive additional support under the newly introduced Industrial Park Policy 2026. He said the state\u2019s Textile and Apparel Policy 2025, implemented in December last year, is supporting integrated growth across the value chain, especially in emerging clusters such as Rupaheli.<\/p>\n

He added that extra-long staple cotton is being cultivated over nearly 30,000 hectares in Bhilwara and 11,000 hectares in Banswara, with further consultations planned to expand cultivation.<\/p>\n
