US extends waiver allowing countries to buy Russian oil on sea
The US Treasury Department has renewed a waiver, allowing countries to buy sanctioned Russian oil already loaded onto tankers for nearly a month.
It may be noted that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had ruled out any such relief earlier this week.
India would be a key beneficiary of this decision, which replaces a 30-day waiver that expired on April 11.
The deadline for the latest waiver is May 16.
